Dr. Rick Bonar’s Gentle and Intuitive Touch

‘In All Disease Look First to the Spine’ ~ Hippocrates, Father of Medicine

Rick Bonar
,
Doctor of Chiropractic, grew up milking cows on a farm in Kentucky, so he realized at a young age that farming was very hard work. Coincidentally, he was often told that he had “Dr.’s Hands”, and this innocent comment compelled him to consider actually becoming a doctor. It turns out that those considerations went pretty far - He started Pre-Med right out of high school.

Nevertheless, Rick was plagued into his adulthood with chronic back pain. And it finally took a chiropractor to not only convince the ‘If-I-can’t-see-it, smell-it-or-taste-it, it-doesn’t-exist’ skeptic in him, but also to rid him of his pain. And it doesn’t end there, for Rick’s experiences with chiropractic were richer than he had expected. “I started to feel and sense things that I had never sensed before, like a true body-mind connection. I was called right then and there to be a chiropractor.”

Rick Bonar, D.C. says he respects the conventional medical industry, but he also recognizes something that many of us sense - He calls it the rampant tendency to “over-prescribe”. But there are other alternatives and routes to health and wellness, many of them more root-problem oriented, more affordable, more pleasurable and often, longer lasting.

“Chiropractic Care is an evidence based approach to wellness. Through this carepeople of all ages, abilities, disabilities, conditions and lack of conditions, realize a greater quality of life.” Utilizing a gentle technique, Dr. Bonar restores the nervous system flow to the body. “This specific gentle approach uses a range of methods to help your body and mind re-establish greater nervous and immune system function and communication.”

Dr. Bonar’s been helping people heal for a decade now. He names just a few of the dis-eases and discomforts he has helped his patients with, including Fibromyalgia, Scoliosis, bed wetting, headaches, migraines, ear aches, Diabetes, asthma, allergies and of course neck, arm/leg and back pain.

“I make sure that the brain – through the nervous system and spinal cord – can communicate properly. So the body’s working more efficiently, firing better when tuned up, which is what chiropractic does. The ability to heal the body is inside the body already.”

But we as individuals have to take responsibility for the state of our own health as well. Many of us have fallen into the tendency to detach from the body. And yet we also push our body to exhaustion and misalignment. We need help getting back to a place of balance. But we must commit to facilitating that healing and preventing future abuse/ailments.

Dr. Bonar recognizes that “Everybody is an individual.” And because of this he says, “I listen to every word that they say verbally. And then I listen to every word they say nonverbally. Every cell in their body has a voice.”

He continues, “Taking the stress out of body also helps you live longer and retain or regain youth. When your body/mind is at ease, you don’t get angry… because thetension’s not there, the stress is not there.” Dr. Bonar takes the tension off of the nerve so communication is facilitated, energy again flows and healing can commence.

Mostly what he asks of his clients/patients is to “Stay present so you know what the body needs, because it will help you.” But ultimately, we each have to make our own choices. What Dr. Bonar does is “teach people to stay in tune with their body so they can be independent self-healing systems.”

Aside from being a “very cost effective” way to regain health, the significant physical and mental/emotional changes that occur in those who are treated by Dr. Bonar are certainly noteworthy. People have even stopped excessive alcohol drinking or taking depression medicine (under the supervision of their MD) after seeing him, and most of us can grasp how monumental and relieving that can be. “I’ve had people tell me I saved their lives,” Dr. Bonar confesses, a little humbled by the testimonials, but they help express the magnitude of what gentle chiropractic can do.

Clearly, the subtle but significant power of a gentle and intuitive approach should not be underestimated. “There is a big difference between traditional chiropractic and gentle touch,” and “the gentle approach really works.” “All I know,” concludes Dr. Bonar “is that I’ll be doing this until the day I can’t do it anymore… because I love helping people.”
